FMAD.IO Appliance Troubleshooting Guide

Power Issues
Appliance Does Not Power On
Verify power cables are securely connected.
Check the rack PDUs and ensure they have power.
Check appliance power button and LEDs; reseat cables if necessary.
Intermittent Power Loss
Inspect and replace faulty or loose power cables.
Check for overload on PDUs; distribute load evenly.
Network Connectivity Issues
No Connectivity to Management Interface
Verify cable connection and activity LEDs.
Confirm IP, netmask, and gateway settings.
Check firewall rules or ACLs on network devices.
Appliance Not Receiving Traffic
Ensure correct connection to TAP/SPAN ports.
Validate port configurations on the source network device.
Check capture port status from FMAD.IO web interface.
IPMI Access Issues
Cannot Reach IPMI Interface
Verify IPMI IP configuration and connectivity via ping.
Ensure IPMI credentials are correct (default: admin/fmadio400G).
Check switch port configurations and VLAN tagging.
IPMI Web Interface Unresponsive
Reboot IPMI via SSH or physical reset.
Clear browser cache or use another browser to test.
Packet Capture Issues
Incomplete or Missing Captures
Check capture configuration and rolling buffer settings.
Validate disk storage availability via FMAD.IO UI.
Confirm proper capture filter settings.
High Packet Loss
Ensure capture ports operate at correct negotiated speeds.
Check for interface errors or duplex mismatches.
Validate traffic load does not exceed appliance specifications.
Performance & Stability Issues
Slow Web Interface or Unresponsiveness
Check CPU and memory utilization from system status page.
Clear browser cache and cookies.
Restart FMAD.IO services via SSH or web interface.
Unexpected Reboots or Freezes
Review system logs for errors:
/var/log/messages
.Run diagnostics (system_report.sh).
Check for overheating, ensure proper cooling.
Running Diagnostics & System Reports
Generating a System Report
Log in via SSH.
Run:
/opt/fmadio/bin/system_report.sh
Send generated report to support@fmad.io.
Checking Appliance Health
Review appliance health page from web GUI.
Inspect status LEDs on front and rear panels.
Check storage health and disk utilization.
